Energy Efficiency Installation Technician Position Openings

Now accepting applications for energy efficiency installation technicians to staff BGE’s Quick Home Energy Check-up program.  This is a full-time temporary position.  Service areas may include some or all of the following areas: Montgomery, Prince George’s, Howard, Carroll, and Baltimore Counties as well as Baltimore City.

This ‘boots on the ground’ position offers the opportunity to install energy- and water-saving measures into thousands of homes.  Every visit you make is an opportunity to create a measurable difference in a homeowner’s bills and their carbon footprint. This position is full-time, with hourly compensation and is temporary.

Responsibilities
- Work in teams to install and explain various energy saving products such as CFLs, aerators, showerheads, pipe wrap, etc.
- Communicate installation statistics to auditors and administrative staff

Qualifications
We will train all motivated candidates with preference given to those with the following:
- A recognized green building or retrofit certification
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with residential construction and/or building science
- Ability to absorb, process, utilize and communicate technical concepts

Requirements
- Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable access to an insured vehicle
- Must be able to pass background and reference checks, as well as drug testing
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds

The ideal candidate is energetic, personable, able to work in teams as well as self-motivated with a demonstrated passion for contributing to the sustainability movement.  Compensation is hourly.  This position is full-time but temporary.

Energy Efficiency Administrative Programs Internship Opportunities for Fall 2011

Now accepting applications for an administrative intern to aid with logistics and communications for several energy efficiency projects. This is a 10- to 20-hour per week position working out of our Silver Spring office.

This position offers the opportunity to work with the area’s leader in residential energy efficiency in efforts to help homeowners reduce their environmental impact while saving on their energy bills. Interns working more than 15 hours per week will be able to gain field experience with energy auditors and green building certification professionals.

Responsibilities
- Provide logistical support for a utility scale Demand-Side Management (DSM) program in the Baltimore-DC corridor, including data management and entry
- Communicate statistical and qualitative information to homeowners and coworkers
- Perform research projects on a number of research-oriented projects

Qualifications
We will train all motivated candidates with preference given to those with the following:
- High school diploma (some college preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of building energy efficiency
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Requirements
The ideal candidate is energetic, personable and self-motivated with a demonstrated passion for contributing to the sustainability movement.  This is an unpaid internship.
